Meant to post this on Sunday, but I hope that everyone remembered the men who gave their lives during Operation Overlord sixty-six years ago. Their bravery in the face of tremendous odds is something that we as Americans must never forget and is something that we must always honor.

Those U boats were something else. I was watching footage of the brave men unloading themselves wading to the beaches while bullets whizzed by their helmets. They continued to wade in, almost unaffected and certainly undeterred. At 18, 19, 20 years old...I could not imagine the fear that was maliciously gnawing at their being. And yet for the future of their beloved country they fought on, even if they knew they wouldn't live to see over the beach that was before them. Many men gave their lives that day in exchange for mine. Thank you for reminding me:)
