Depression sets in . . . well the Yankees had a tough one last night and gave the series up to the Angels. Granted the Angels played well, but the Yankees pitching shouldnt have given up Game 2 to begin with. Anyways there is always next year, so lets just hope that Steinbrenner doesnt screw anything else up.
Still there is one problem that annoys me . . . when people say they hate the Yankees just because the Yankees. Many times they hate them b/c they are always good. It is human nature to want someone who is always successful (or having good teams in this case) to fail.
But the bigger problem I have is when people say that they hate the Yankees b/c of the payroll. Yes the payroll exceeded $200 million this year which really is outrageous and people really are entitled to their own opinion. The thing that annoys me is that when you look a little below the surface their is a common thread in this argument with something else that is close to my heart.
What is say is that hating the New York Yankees (b/c of the $$$) is just like hating the United States of America and this is why. Why does everyone else seem to hate the US? In many cases, America is hated b/c we have the most money and we do whatever we want, when we want to do it. Someone even mentioned the salary cap and I simply mentioned how we have arms treaties and agreements in order to limit them.
So my point is to just be careful the next time you say that you hate the Yankees b/c of the money and remember just where you live and what we do in order to protect the freedoms you enjoy.
